Far Far Away!

Far Bar in Little Tokyo should not serve food.

Everything about this little joint is dope, except for the food.
So, when you want to meet someone at Far Bar make sure you eat at Daikokuya before you head over!

And when you meet Bobby the bartender, remember to tip him extra! He is probably one of my favorite bartenders in Los Angeles!

THE GOOD (great ambiance and booze service)
check out their MAN VS SAKE event !!! see if you are bad ass enough to make the wall of fame!

Rising Sun Pale Ale

Makers on the rocks

THE BAD (over priced gross food)
If you are the owner of Far Bar, take notes ok? Don't get mad... I am just trying to help :)

Grilled Vegetables
dude, the seasoning is way too heavy! the vegetables look and taste like they were grilled 3 hrs before I placed the order and if you are going to salt the vegetables, please don't offer more sodium packed soy sauce on the side... srsly! ack

Shrimp Po Boy
this is suppose to be a shrimp po boy sandwich? well, your bread is way too dry and why are you charging 7 bucks for two mini sliders? COME ON!

Fried Calamari
more calamari less batter

Far Bar, I will come have a drink or two with you again, I'll even come for MAN VS SAKE... but don't expect me to eat any of yo food... unless you fire your chef!!!

Dinner with Rotory International in Taiwan

I'm not quite sure exactly what the Rotory Club is. My aunt Anita is a member, so is my uncle. They invited us to a special dinner event held at an upscale restaurant in Banqiao. We had no idea what to expect, but we both knew that we will definitely be fed with lots of yummy food! This dinner came with a whopping 10 course meal and complimentary wine, tea and Mccallan scotch (well, the Mccallan scotch was from my uncle ha!).

First Course - Giant serving of sashimi with a miniature ice sculpted snowman. We both did the "woo... ahhh..." when the dish was served.

Course 1 - Sashimi (close up)

Then followed with shark fin soup, jumbo shrimps, shrimp sticky rice, steam eggs, pigs' feet, chicken stew soup, fish collar, sweet buns and fruit plate. According to my Aunt Anita... "Everything here is expensive! so eat up!!!"

Throughout the event we had to kanpai (drink toast) everyone in the Rotory Club and they had to do the same to our table! People got really wasted and there were lots of karaoke and dancing!!! My aunt and uncle won raffle prizes... they ended up giving all the prizes to us! So we came home with three stacks of cakes, one box of giant Asian pears, and a makeup gift bag :) I hope we get invited again!
