Beth has been craving turkey burgers... so she invited a few lab rats over :)
Here is a quick recipe:
This baby is packed with Beth-made pesto, arugula lettuce mix, one slice of tomato, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, sliced avocados and one turkey patty.
*The turkey patty (green onions, spicy mustard, worchestire sauce, salt and pepper), i know its not a fancy patty recipe, but along with the rich veggies and Trader Joe's bun I can't describe how good this burger WAS... damn it was soooo good !!!
My mom made this last night! This is Taiwanese style oily sticky rice. I can't really describe how good it is, but it definitely reminds me of home and childhood :)
A tradition is something that's not meant to be broken... So we do it over and over again. This is the tradition of the JO(E)s.
Long long long time ago (ok maybe not that long), There's Boy Joe (me) and there's Girl Jo (Joanna). Girl Jo used to live in LA and we would eat at Daikokuya ALL THE TIME.
The Daikokuya tradition became a tradition because we go there so much, but when Girl Jo moved to Seattle, the tradition continues... We try to meet every time she's in town to catch up on life and slurp down the best ramen in town.
Daikokuya is my favorite ramen restaurant in LA. Go ahead check this place out! You will not be disappointed.
scroll down slowly and get ready to drool...
The meal was perfect! good company and good food.. There's nothing wrong with that :)
Easter 2011 was awesome! Our dear friend Tracy was kind enough to host the Easter Potluck Dinner at her place, and she provided us hungry people... a giant ham!
I'm not sure exactly what the ham was based with... but I heard Coca Cola was involved!
bread, bun and rolls
Emily made a delicious pasta (Todd's recipe). Its got Feta, shell pasta, olives, snow peas, bell peppers and carrots! I don't know exactly what the recipe is, but I had the same salad for lunch today and it was eff'n awesome... still!
Beth and I made sweet potato chips :)
Jake made the asparagus
I had so much fun eating the ham and all the other yummy foods, I forgot to take photos of the dessert! Well, we had vegan lemon pie, soy caramel ice cream and a giant cookie!
Again, Thank you Tracy for hosting this wonderful Easter Potluck Dinner !!!
These are not typical cookies, these are called the WARMERS! If you go around and tell people that the best cookies you've ever had was from the Doubletree Hotels... well, people might think you're crazy. But the joke is on them! because they don't know whet they're missing!
I had my doubts, but my coworkers Robert and Victor introduced me to my first ever Warmers.
I'm sure most of you guys are probably wondering... What is the proper way to eat one of these bad boys?
First you need the cookie... I found out that you can actually buy the cookies on the internet!
If you like frozen yogurt, you'll want to visit Cantaloop Yogurt on Lake Ave., Pasadena.
peanut butter frozen yogurt topped with chocolate chips / mango frozen yogurt topped with fresh mango
We had a great experience and we would like to share this chill spot with everyone else!
And this is why:
Super friendly staff, very helpful and offered samples of different flavors of the frozen yogurt. They were yummy!
The staff offered kid's size and 1/2 free topping as a money saving alternative! I bet you can't get 1/2 free topping at that other frozen yogurt place. #pinkberry
They have peanut butter flavor frozen yogurt, what more you want?
They got really escited when Beth mentioned that I have a food blog and the photos I took might get featured in my blog.
They have a cool logo.
I am sure when I visit this place again I will find more reasons to go! Give it a try! It's totally worth it! I mean look at this bite! You can't go wrong with a lil of peanut butter frozen yogurt topped with chocolate chips!!!
So a few days ago, I got a letter from Mr. Bill Roche, the general manager at the Red Lion Tavern. If you've been reading my blog posts, I'm sure you read about my letter to the "bitchy" server that ruined my experience and pissed off the whole birthday party at the Red Lion.
Well, here is the letter:
Joseph, My name is Bill Roche, and I am the General Manager at the Red Lion Tavern. First, let me personally apologize for everything that happened on the 25th. I was absolutely shocked when I read your review. I want to let you know that what happened to your party was completely unacceptable, and your server will face severe consequences for her actions. We try to create a fun atmosphere here while serving guests with great customer service. Obviously, your party did not receive this and our server did not meet our standard of quality service. I would like to make this up to you somehow and do not want this particular incidence to keep you from returning to the Red Lion. I would like to offer a meal and a few beers on the house if you choose to return to the Red Lion. There will be a gift certificate made out to Joseph C. in our office, please ask a manager for it the next time you stop in. I appreciate you talking the time to make such poor service known. Again, I apologize for the actions of your server and hope that you do come back to the Red Lion.
Bill Roche General Manager Red Lion Tavern
First of all, Thank you Mr. Roche for responding to my concern. I am really glad he took the responsibility and handled the situation the best way possible.
SOOOOOO... now that there's a gift certificate made out to me at the tavern, I feel like I should share the certificate with my readers!
I have an IDEA! I figured that we should give the Red Lion Tavern a second chance! Maybe I should have our FIRST EVER Eat With Joe Party? It would be a great way for me to meet all my readers!!! Let me know if this is a good IDEA! If you love food and you love to cook I'd like to meet you at this potential party and discuss the possibility of having you featured in the blog :) gimme your thoughts in the comment box below !!! Let's make this happen !!!
Warrior Dash is basically a 5k running course with 10-12 obstacles. Sounds pretty crazy right? Well, congratulations to ME and BETH for surviving the challenge! Throughout the whole race we worked as a team! We hopped over junkyard cars, crawled under barbwire, climbed over hay stacks, rolled through mud and jumped over flaming logs...
We ran passed the finish line - TOGETHER!
After all that sweat and hard work... we were starving!
So, what is the best warrior fuel? TURKEY LEGS!!! I love turkey legs! You know they serve good turkey legs when people actually participated the event just for the turkey legs ... that means I NEED TO SINK MY TEETH INTO ONE OF THEM SMOKEY HOT LEGS! Did I mentioned that I love turkey legs? oh yeah I did ha!
Oh and a nice cold Bud Light to wash down the turkey meat!!! One of the benefits you get for participating the Warrior Dash was the ticket to a FREE BEER! Yes, you get a free beer for completing the run.
